Welcome to our Wife Life Summer series!!!! Last Summer, I posted a series very close to my heart, The Proverbs 31 Series. And this year, I am narrowing our focus down to a critical part in marital success…Becoming One! Wives, I hope you are as excited as I am to dive into this short Summer series! My prayer is that it will be an excellent refresher for your wife life!
For this first post, I am going to give you a little sneak peek of the inspiration behind this series, as well as the content I will be sharing with you over this next month!
Confession! When I married Gabe, I was 22 and had no clue what I was getting myself into! (Please tell me I am not the only wife like this!!) All I knew is that I was crazy in love with him and that I never wanted to live away from how he made me feel! I wanted to feel that loved for the rest of my life! I wanted the joy he brought me daily!
Fast forward 8 years later…I now know how blessed I am to have married Gabe, BUT I also have an entirely new outlook on marriage!
40-50% of the married women who read this post are statistically setup for divorce! I hope you hated reading that, as much as I hated writing it! But according to the American Psychological Association, that is what marriages are up against! And I have a theory… I genuinely believe that it is because we are lacking in one key area! BECOMING ONE!
As a wedding photographer, I almost always hear during our couple’s ceremonies the reference of Two Becoming One- taken from the very first marriage of Adam and Eve.
Genesis 2:24 “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” (KJV)
Maybe this popular verse was even recited on your wedding day!
This key verse of becoming one is more powerful than what is credited. Of course, when you get married, you “become one” in society’s eyes. From taking the same last name to filing your taxes…you are one. However, becoming one is not just a legal step, it is more than that.
Simple math will tell you 1 + 1 = 2! So in this series, we will be taking some simple math and seeing how important it is to subtract and make room for your marriage, to truly become one with your husband.
I am so excited you are joining me for this Summer Series! As this is the introduction post, our official in depth look at becoming one will start next week, on our famous WifeLife Wednesday!
